Barnes & Noble Going Global? Not So Fast.

Posted on by John Yunker

Barnes & Noble operates 850 book stores across the United States (including B Dalton), selling more than 450 million books a year. But the company has not strayed outside the US borders, yet.

The other day, Israel National News reported that Barnes & Noble was planning to open a branch in Israel.

In February of this year, I noted that Borders was entering the United Arab Emirates and other Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries via a joint venture with the Al Maya Group.

So it would only make sense to see Barnes & Noble also expanding globally. But not so fast. I read in Publisher’s Marketplace this morning that Israel National News got it wrong — Barnes & Noble is not expanding into Israel.

Not yet.
